Designs for Health Calcium D-Glucarate

The liver detoxifies hormones and toxins through a process called glucuronidation — essentially tagging them with glucuronic acid so they can be packaged and eliminated through the GI tract. It is an elegant system, but it has a vulnerability: certain bacteria in the large intestine produce an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase that can snip those tags off, freeing the conjugated hormones and toxins to be reabsorbed rather than excreted.

For people dealing with estrogen dominance, high toxic burden, or sluggish hormone clearance, this reabsorption cycle is often a significant piece of the problem.

Calcium D-glucarate works by inhibiting beta-glucuronidase activity, keeping those conjugates intact so they complete the journey out of the body.

It also supports glucuronidation itself as a Phase II liver detox pathway, and has research behind its role in cholesterol metabolism and bile acid excretion as well.

The compound is found naturally in cruciferous vegetables and citrus fruits, but in amounts far too small to meaningfully affect beta-glucuronidase activity.

Supplementation provides a slow-release source of its active metabolite, D-glucaro-1,4-lactone, at clinically relevant levels.

Each two-capsule serving delivers 1,200mg of calcium D-glucarate USP. Take with meals.
